The User Experience and Interface (UX/UI) Design leader will with partner with the leadership on Product, Marketing, Technology and Sales to unlock financial planning and wealth management digital experiences across our Personal Wealth and Plan Sponsor (401K) businesses, deliver a proprietary design system and simplify user flows to improve acquisition and retention of our mass affluent and high-net worth clients.

What you will do

  • Lead all UX/UI design efforts across Empower's marketing and product user experiences including but not limited to Empower.com, Empower Personal Dashboard, on-boarding flows, etc. (Excludes marketing advertisements, landing pages)

  • Define and implement the UX/UI design vision, strategy, and roadmap for our products and tools focused on personal wealth, plan sponsor and retirement products.

  • Oversee a portfolio of design projects for various web and mobile interfaces and applications; drive a set of consistent design principles across platforms.

  • Lead and mentor an organization of talented UX/UI designers, writers and leaders, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.

  • Collaborate with key Product, Engineering and Business leaders across the company to understand business requirements and user needs and to translate the vision into intuitive design concepts and wireframes.

  • Drive user experience research requirements for Empower's research team to gain insights into user behaviors, product engagement, journey mapping, customer needs and pain points.

  • Champion a user-centered design approach throughout the product development lifecycle through interactive prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity mock-ups to influence design decisions across the company.

  • Drive development of new design system, design standards, style guide and development of components leveraging developers within the UX/UI team and through technology partners

  • Skilled at driving rapid prototyping processes to showcase ideas and gain executive buy-in

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as accessibility guidelines and data privacy regulations, throughout the design process.

  • Serve as an internal advocate for industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices to accelerate product innovation without sacrificing user experience.

  • Be able to balance design goals with technical constraints and business objectives, astute at making the right tradeoffs.

  • Establish and maintain design systems, guidelines, and documentation to ensure consistency across products.

  • Ensure mentorship and leadership of junior and senior designers, guide large-scale projects, inspire through example, and help build a strong team.

  • This role will liaise with the EPW Head of Marketing, Head of Product, Head of Technology, Head of Sales and Head of Customer Experience. The leader will represent UX/UI in multiple public and company forums including National Sales Meetings and will be asked to present to executive leadership frequently on progress.

  • This role will have a dotted lined reporting structure to EPW's Head of Product

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, fine arts, communications, design, digital marketing, or related field.

  • 20+ years of user experience design, with a strong portfolio highlighting successful product and marketing designs and user experiences..

  • Previous leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to lead and inspire a team of designers.

  • Advanced knowledge of user-centered design principles (web and mobile), usability testing, and user research methodologies.

  • Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their impact on UX/UI design.

  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and analyzing user feedback to inform design decisions in a financial context.

  • Strong visual design skills with a keen eye for aesthetics, typography, and layout, while maintaining a focus on clarity and compliance.

  • An obsession for simplifying complex experiences and using design to remove customer friction.

  • Experience working within regulatory frameworks and compliance considerations relevant to financial services or other regulated industries. Direct financial services experience or previous experience working in conversion rate optimization at either a FinTech firm or other consumer technology companies is preferred.

  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma or similar.

  • Working knowledge of HTML CSS (SCSS)

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to balance user needs, business requirements, and technical constraints.

  • A deep understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design best practices in the financial industry.

  • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative user experience data to inform new tests and new designs to simplify/optimize user flows that will support business goals

  • Ability to flex between marketing and product user experience use cases

  • A portfolio of professional UI/UX design work for both responsive web, iOS, Android.

  • Extremely creative; proven track record of design innovation

Base Salary Range

$179,700.00 - $260,625.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
