JOB SUMMARY: Child Care, supports and facilitates the Children's Program at the Emergency Shelter.

HOURS: Full -Time / M-F 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

JOB DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with the treatment team to address children's needs during their residence at the Emergency Shelter.
  • Document and notify the Children's Program Coordinator regarding any concerns/issues with the children.
  • Provide childcare to children during regularly scheduled group sessions.
  • Assist with conflict resolution between children during playtime.
  • Provide Safety Meetings and Child Intakes as needed.
  • Facilitate Closing of Children's Case Management Files.
  • Assist with school enrollment process.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
  • Maintain toy and game inventory.
  • Assist with Donations, Supplies, Backpacks, Gifts.
  • Assist with planning and hosting Children's Holiday Parties.
  • Assist with monthly/ seasonal door decorations.
  • Assist with planning and supervising Field Trips.
  • Fulfill all Mandated Reporter duties.
  • Update weekly activity monitors as needed.
  • Provide transportation as needed.
  • Hotline coverage as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preserve the confidentiality of client, staff, and agency information.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and other staff.
  • Participate in agency functions as a participant or presenter as needed.
  • Represent the agency in a positive, professional manner at all times.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Child Development or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • 40-hour domestic violence training as required by law (will be provided after hire date).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must love working directly with Children
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • CPR & First Aid.

Job Qualifications

  1. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and appropriate insurance.
  2. Fingerprint scan & TB Test.
  3. Employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or fee, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
