Job Description
Position Summary : The position of the Design Engineer will be responsible for bringing customers' lift-truck special modification requests to life from conception through assembly, will become technical owner of a wide variety of material-handling products, will troubleshoot field issues, interface with customer, and liaison with offshore team-members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
  • Ensure product specifications, timing, and targets are met to support successful launch and meet the organization's strategic plans
  • Drive innovation through the development of product designs, utilizing CAD/3D modeling & drawings (SolidWorks), finite element analysis, and calculations for custom build requests for lift trucks
  • Responsible for communication of design inputs and requirements to internal engineering teams through design reviews, as well as cross-functional teams in support of custom builds, field service resolution, and sales and marketing support
  • Partner with internal team members to test prototype designs in actual or simulated field conditions, gather relevant information via data acquisition tools & methodologies and analyze/react appropriately to that test data
  • Lead and design custom and complex lift truck attachments requests to further business growth
  • Lead data driven investigation, resolution, and timely corrective action implementation related to customer field issues
  • Ensure proper and accurate special load ratings for alternative applications, configurations and attachments.
  • Be the technical expert and go-to individual for sales, marketing, and service teams' inquiries
  • Troubleshooting support of field, manufacturing, quality, and warranty issues.
  • Offshore design team liaison support

Experience or Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Physics, Industrial Engineering, or other technical fields
  • 3-7 years of experience with complex CAD/3D modeling & drawings (SolidWorks)
  • 3+ Experience with electric motor riders is required
  • 3+ years of hands-on mechanical or electrical experience
  • 2+ years of hydraulic experience and knowledge
  • 2+ years of experience with lift truck attachments
  • 2+ years' experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • 2+ years of hands-on mechanical or electrical experience
  • 2+ Li-ion battery and charger experience
  • 3+ years with lift trucks or off-highway equipment preferred
  • Foundational awareness of ANSI B56.1 standards
  • Experiencing using ERP systems (Plex preferred)

  • Demonstrated strong listening and communication skills (i.e. oral and written)
  • Demonstrated strong ability to troubleshoot complex problems with demonstrated success is critical
  • Ability to advocate and support change, not limited to processes, resources changes, and work priorities
  • Ability to work well self-directed given objectives and project goals. Be highly accountable and able to multi-task

  • Positive attitude, track record of learning, willingness to learn


Pay Details: $105,000.00 to $115,000.00 per year
