SEASONAL PET CARE LEAD  |  JOB DESCRIPTION

The position we are currently hiring for at our growing company is in Belvidere, on Rockford’s east side, where we offer several different services for people and their pets. There is currently a full time and part time SEASONAL (June-August) opportunity, 25-40 hours per week, in a pet care lead position with a great support staff and leadership team that you would be joining.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES


Pets in our facility must be cared for promptly, every day. The facility is staffed 365 days a year; availability of weekends and holidays are a must- not every but a good chunk of them. Experience is necessary, however a genuine love for animals is a must. You must be able to handle dogs of all sizes without being afraid of them and without allowing them to control you.  Must be willing to maintain the highest standards in cleanliness. There will be opportunities for advancement, if you excel.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP


This position reports to the lodging managers.




QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a pet facility or pet care environment a plus
  • Excellent work history and references
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.




JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


As a Pet Care Tech you are involved with all of the day-to-day activities that happen at Meyer’s. You are key to each pet’s stay making sure everything that they need is happening and ensuring our doggy guests have a great vacation while their owners are away. As the primary contact person with our dog guests, you are responsible for:




  • Making sure every guest is comfortable, happy and receiving all of the services that an owner requests.
  • Maintaining the daily duties and in a timely manner.
  • Closely monitoring the health and wellness of every guest.
  • Communicating clearly with our leadership team.
  • Feeding and medicating guests, and keeping detailed records of our guests entire stay.
  • Maintaining a highest level of cleanliness in all areas of our facility, play yards and outdoor dog patios.
  • Exercising guests.
  • Basic grooming of guests: bathing, nail trims, brushing and ear cleaning.
  • Making sure every guest goes home clean, happy and we exceeded the expectation.




REQUIREMENTS


- Previous dog experience meaning more than that you have owned a dog


- Good dog handling skills


- Demonstrated success working as a member of a team


- Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes


- Strong organizational and follow-through skills


- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


- High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative


- Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude to ensure excellent care


- Willingness to go above and beyond when needed


- Flexibility and positive reaction to change


 




OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES


Ability to lift  up to 45 lbs.  Must be in good physical condition, able to squat, stoop, bend, lift, and do a lot of walking throughout shift.


Must be able to work outdoors enduring extreme weather and temperatures.
