Job Description
Summary:
Assists with Planning, and organizing the maintenance of
hospital buildings, mechanical equipment, power plant, vehicles and
grounds. Assist in supervising departmental personnel and all functions
including construction, maintenance and grounds keeping by performing
the following duties.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Follows standards and assures hospital facilities and equipment are
maintained. Follows preventive maintenance schedules and provides for
unscheduled maintenance requirements.
Participates in the installation, maintenance, and removal of mechanical
equipment, electric and plumbing system.
Participates in minor and major construction or alteration of buildings.
Participates in the operation and maintenance of the mechanical plant and
all hospital environmental control systems.
Assists in maintaining inventory levels of maintenance supplies.
Follows established inventory requirements and arranges for purchases of
supplies and equipment.
Keeps abreast of changes and innovations and recommends supply and
equipment items for purchase.
Manages department functions and supervises department personnel, in
the absence of department supervisor.
Follows departmental policies, procedures, and practices consistent with
hospital policy.
Supervises and coordinates activities including work routines and
schedules, in the absence of department supervisor.
Maintains a safe working environment.
May be involved in Performance Improvement (PI)
Repairs parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials,
and concrete.
Maintains and repairs buildings plumbing and electrical systems, including
replacing worn or defective parts such as switches, fuses, bulbs, and
filters.
Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in
machines and equipment.
Assists other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing
supplies.
May from time to time be required to operate hospital vehicle to include
pulling and backing trailers.
Familiarity with Federal, State, and local regulations and codes.
Requires being on call and able to return to hospital within 30 minutes or
sooner.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job may, from time to time have limited supervisory responsibilities,
primarily in the absence of department supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), is required, in
addition, two years experience in hospital plant operations or related work
experience and training.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Texas Class C Drivers License. Any moving violations must be
reported within 48 hours. A DWI/DUI conviction will result in suspension
of driving hospital vehicles on public streets and highways. An arrest for
DWI/DUI, Possession of a Controlled Substance must be reported to
management on or before the next scheduled work day, and may be
cause for suspension of operating hospital vehicles, as well as possible
suspension from work.
A copy of current drivers license is required to be on file.
