QUALIFICATIONS:


High School Diploma/GED and at least one year of experience in fitness center customer service, clerical and/or sales, and/or fitness office functions required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check, drug and alcohol screening. Must have aspirations for becoming a fitness professional and current knowledge of basic operations and uses of cardiovascular and strength training equipment.  Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), and First-aid is preferred.  Must have an upbeat, creative, fun and learning attitude.  Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and aptitude to perform the defined duties.

MISSION STATEMENT:


Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is dedicated to improving quality of life through exceptional parks, facilities, events, and recreational opportunities for all.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Represents the CWAC brand while providing a high level of customer service to visitors and members.
  • Assists the Fitness Supervisor with administrative and managerial work as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping all fitness equipment in safe operating order and provides timely solutions to pieces in need of repair.
  • Maintains professional internal and external relationships in keeping with CPRST core values.
  • Coordinates with the front desk staff in scheduling new member orientations and equipment consultations for all new members to help with member retention.
  • Conducts equipment orientations for new and current members upon request in efforts to raise member retention rate.
  • Works closely with new members to ensure all questions are accurately answered and they have a clear understanding of facility procedures and conduct rules.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties, and/or providing direction.
  • Assists the Fitness Supervisor in implementing facility policies and procedures, ensuring membership and guest compliance with all facility rules and regulations.
  • Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff; embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel and Community.
  • Assumes supervisory responsibilities of the fitness areas in the absence of the Fitness Supervisor.
  • Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Attends all meetings as required by supervisors.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of all fitness areas by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, taking out the trash, cleaning up spills, and other duties necessary to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Dusts and sanitizes cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
  • Washes, dries, and folds towels in order to maintain a constant clean supply of for member use.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Wellness Center Director and Fitness Supervisor.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The work area is well lighted, ventilated and heated. Occasionally work outdoors where there is a potential to be exposed to various weather conditions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


The physical demands for this position are moderately active. Walking, running, standing, bending, stooping, sitting, jumping and carrying of moderately heavy weight while carrying out various job duties. Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds of weight without assistance.
