Bartel Communications is a privately owned and operated telecommunications company with over 30 years of installing Aerial and Underground fiber-optic cable and equipment for multiple independently owned companies in the region.

 

Position: Fleet & Construction Equipment Mechanic

Location: Bartel Communications – Booneville, AR

Schedule: M-F (with some occasional weekends)

Hours:  7:00 am - 5:00pm (with some occasional overtime & on-call)

Pay Rate Will Be Based on Experience and Certifications



This position requires but is not limited to the maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles and construction equipment which includes cars, light trucks, medium trucks, heavy trucks, backhoes, boring rigs, skid steers, mini excavators, trenching machines, and etc. It will be necessary to make service calls in the field, in all types of weather, to repair the above-mentioned vehicles and equipment. This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

Computer literacy to maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.

 

Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in a timely fashion.

 

Maintain inventorying stock, placing orders, maintaining supplies, verifying receipt.

 

Excellent time management skills to complete tasks in an efficient manner and ability to repair vehicles independently.

 

Knowledge about state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

 

Knowledge in automotive brakes, exhaust, suspension, & engine diagnostics

 

Knowledge of, and adherence to, safety and environmental standards for repair facilities.

 

Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods such as OBD II systems

 

Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are always kept in a safe and usable condition.

 

Knowledge of all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

 

 

Physical Requirements

Must perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

 

Ability to handle various tools including heavy equipment tools.

 

Maintain routine inspections of vehicles and equipment, inform management of any issues.

 

Assess vehicles and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues.

 

Operating equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns.

 

Maintaining and completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, replacing filters, batteries, starting and charging.

 

Maintaining and completing preventive maintenance services on trailers, and construction equipment.

 

Maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components.

 

Maintaining and repairing Steering and suspension, axles, timing chains/belts, and hoses, brakes.

 

Maintaining and repairing radiators, engine cooling systems, head gaskets, intake gaskets, exhaust gaskets, etc.

 

 

 

Education, Work Experience, Qualifications

Must be physically able to lift up to 100 pounds.

 

Must be physically able to crawl under vehicles and equipment.

 

Must be physically able to work on a concreate floor for 8 hours per day.

 

Must have references and or experience as an auto mechanic.

 

Must have knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles.

 

2 years (Required) automative repair experience working as a mechanic in a light truck fleet repair shop, independent repair shop or a dealership repair shop.

 

Must have knowledge of maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles (preferred).

 

ASE Certified (preferred)

 

Drug Screen, Background Check and MVR Check will be required.
