We are seeking a Supervisor, Materials Management to oversee the Material Supporting Novavax operations.The Material Management Supervisor will manage a team of individuals across multiple work centers in support of receiving, sampling, dispensing, and shipping of pharmaceutical materials. In addition, this individual will work with business partners in maintenance and engineering, site safety and quality assurance to ensure compliance and efficiency in the day-to-day flow of goods.The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with experience and interest in working in a small, entrepreneurial environment with broad responsibilities and opportunities. Also, this role may require working overtime during high volume periods and use standard equipment such as dollies, safety box cutters. The physical demands described below are representative of those that much be met by an employee to successful perform the essential functions of this job

Essential Functions

  • Leads in the equipment and facility design and qualification for a new classified good manufacturing practice (GMP) area currently under construction.
  • Hires, trains, manages staff.
  • Defines material flows.
  • Authors standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures that all weighing and cleaning activities are executed in a safe, compliant, and timely manner in accordance with departmental SOPs and the company operating model.
  • Works with Warehouse area to support the delivery of materials to production/manufacturing.
  • Ensures training for staff is maintained and is relevant.
  • As necessary, conducts or directs training activity for the team, including but not limited to: SOPs, skill qualifications, safety, quality, and other related communications.
  • Notifies and escalates issues needing resolution in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for re-allocation of resources as needed across area activities.
  • Interfaces with multiple business partners and formulators
  • Works with business partners in clinical manufacturing to support the on-time delivery of materials to line operations in production suites.
  • Works with additional customers in development operations to ensure material requests and associated activities are executed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates effectively in a various cross functional workstreams to ensure the customers received materials timely and accurately.
  • Supports Quality and Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities

The Material Management Supervisor will manage a team of individuals across multiple work centers in support of receiving, sampling, dispensing, and shipping of pharmaceutical materials.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Prior Experience with SAP.

  • Experience with the standards, practices, and guidelines relevant to a pharmaceutical and cGMP environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other Materials Management colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to focus on assignments and seek assistance as needed to meet operational needs.
  • Fluent in MS Office applications particularly MS Word, Excel, and some Power Point.

Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics preferred.
  • Experience in the Pharma/Biopharmaceutical or related industry in support of a GMP-compliant manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science or Business Administration.
