Swim Instructor
Pay Rate: $14.50
GEOTEMPS, INC. is currently looking for a Swim Instructor for our valued client in Morenci, Arizona. This individual must have a commitment to teamwork, safety, and following policy and protocol. This opportunity is best suited for an individual who is comfortable as a lifeguard and performing public safety work in preventing injuries in the municipal pool facility.
Summary:
Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. Duties include preventing accidents, and effectively enforcing pool rules and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Teach various ages basic swimming skills, water comfort and water safety
- Perform swim tests on individuals and recommend the appropriate level
- Fill out report cards in a timely manner and create class rosters
- Function as part of a Team in an emergency or assist in handling incidents/accidents in Aquatics areas.
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to pass a swim test which includes:
- Step in deep water
- Tread water for 1 minute
- Turn 360 and swim a 25-meter swim (across the deep end and back)
- Exit the pool using the pool edge only
Preferred
- High School diploma or GED
- Teaching experience and working with children
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aide, CPR, and AED certification
Required:
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in applications of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Flexible schedule
- Must pass a drug/alcohol screening.
- Background and reference check
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, stoop, reach, bend, climb, lift, pull, and swim while in swimwear.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction.
- Must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime.
- Must be able to hold your breath for a decent amount of time.
