The Human Resources Generalist helps create a safe, inclusive, and engaging culture, ensuring that Ball attracts and retains the right talent for the rights roles to support company mission and key priorities. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the Human Resources function in the areas of employee relations, employment law compliance and regulations, workers comp, benefits and leave of absence administration, compensation strategy, performance management and safety.

The Human Resources Generalist position is based in Guadalupe, California and supports all employees in our three (3) California locations. This position reports into and is part of the Corporate Human Resources department based in West Chicago, IL.


Job Responsibilities:

· Support the HR function as the main contact for all HR related inquiries to provide best-in class service by addressing and resolving issues in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.

· Seek continuous improvements in HR policies and processes for increased efficiency. Support all HR policy development and implementation.

· Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. Coordinate mandatory trainings as required.

· Support and guide employees with Benefits inquiries. Escalate complex inquiries to HR Benefits as needed.

· Administer FMLA/Leave of Absence and Worker’s Comp for California employees.

· Champion the performance management program and coach supervisors on goal setting to get the most out of their teams and keep employees engaged and motivated.

· Assist in the annual merit process. Continuously monitor and advise on compensation strategy and compliance requirements for California positions to support retention of talent.

· Plan and execute communications on key company initiatives and changes.

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

· Complete required federal and state regulatory and compliance reporting as needed.

· Cultivate a positive candidate experience from application to on-boarding to include timely communications.

· Ensure offboarding experience maintains corporate values and brand experience.

· Partner with each location to coordinate and support employee events and recognition

· Support recruiting and staffing needs for entry level and seasonal positions.

· Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:

· Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in human resources or related disciplines or equivalent direct human resources experience. SHRM or PHR certification preferred.

· Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of successful experience as an HR Generalist capacity.

· Bilingual: Fluent in English and Spanish.

· Travel: travel by car to other locations in California weekly and by air to headquarters in Illinois as needed.

· Schedule: Monday through Friday

· Other requirements:

- Excellent working knowledge of employment law, State and Federal.

- Efficient HR administration and people management skills.

- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.

- Experience in screening, interviewing and assessing candidates.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Superb computer literacy with capability in email, MS Office and related HR software.

- Gains the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.

- Plans and prioritizes work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.

- Maneuvers comfortably through complex process, policy, and people-related organizational dynamics.

- Can relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to Lift/Carry 20-50 lbs 1% of the day

· Ability to push/pull 20-50 lbs 1% of the day

· Ability to sit/stand 100% of the day

· Ability to kneel/bend 3% of the day

· Ability to reach 5% of the day

· Ability to climb/balance 1% of the day

· Ability to use hands/fingers 100% of the day

· At times will be in outdoor and greenhouse work environments.


Salary Range: $70,000/year - $85,000/year

Exact Compensation may very based on skills, education, and experience.
