Location:

This position may be assigned to Consumer Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

We are looking for: Senior Industrial Engineer

The Senior Industrial Engineer will create, develop, and implement efficient utility and/or manufacturing systems, reducing costs while maintaining standards of operations. They will lead studies on the processes used by various Consumers departments and external industry practices to identify ways to streamline production processes and improve overall efficiencies and quality while reducing costs using lean principals. The Senior Industrial Engineer will be responsible for conducting complex time studies, analyzing data, and developing process improvement plans. Additionally, the Senior Industrial Engineer will oversee the work of lower-level engineers and technician on large projects and develop training and coaching programs for employees on new processes and procedures to increase productivity and quality while reducing waste and costs.

The knowledge and skills involved with this position include but are not limited to:

  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of ergonomics and applicable industry standards
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and quality control procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university with four (4) or more years of applicable experience
    • [OR] Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a non-ABET accredited university plus a Professional Engineering license with four (4) or more years of applicable experience

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and other engineers to design cost-effective manufacturing layouts and building ergonomics for new product lines
  • Design, redesign, or enhance work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization's competitive edge
  • Identify and assess various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions
  • Develop and maintain management information, planning, and control systems and designs and oversees the implementation of large and moderately complex production processes
  • Develop and implement systems to increase efficiency in all areas of production, including but not limited to: quality control, inventory management, employee productivity, and cost reduction
  • Conduct time studies and work sampling to determine the most efficient methods of performing tasks and analyze the data to identify trends and recommend process improvements
  • Develop ergonomic solutions to reduce injuries and improve employee comfort and productivity
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary
