Medica Talent Group is excited to share this Temp LVN opportunity with you! Our client, a well-known and reputable Managed Care Organization is seeking LVNs to join their growing team in the correctional health services setting.

Overview:
LVN will be required to work within their scoop of practice per California regulatory standards in the Juvenile Hall Medical Unit.

Responsibilities:
1. Prepares and administers medications; observes patients' reactions, condition, and symptoms; consults with providers and registered nurses routinely and when indicated by changes in condition or behavior.
2. Conducts review of health records to verify the accuracy of medications being administered.
3. Assists with initiating standard procedures applicable to the individual patient.
4. Maintains accurate and concise records concerning nursing care; documents patient's reactions and changes in condition or behavior and refers to a higher level of care as necessary; reviews patient records to keep informed of patient's health status.
5. Obtains information for health histories, assists with physical assessments, examinations, treatments, and instructs patients in carrying out orders of providers, registered nurses, and pharmacists. Assists in triaging sick call requests and refers appropriately.
6. Prepares and collects lab specimens, including blood, urine, saliva, stool, and nasal/pharyngeal samples.
7. Performs blood glucose test; monitor and administer insulin as appropriate.
8. Performs EKG (electrocardiogram), visual acuity, vital signs, PPD (tuberculosis test) placement, and other ambulatory clinic procedures and screening exams.

Qualifications:
1.Modern principles, techniques, equipment, and procedures used in vocational nursing for adults and /or youth with medical and/or mental health diagnosis
2.Valid California LVN License
3.BLS/CPR Certification
4.Techniques of administering medications and treatments, including the purpose, proper dose, and common side effects of many medications given for medical and mental health diagnoses used in a correctional facility, emergency shelter homes, or 24-hour mental health care setting
5.Medical or psychiatric emergency procedures, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillator
