Position Summary:

The Sales Representative is responsible for all horticulture sales and customer service including making cold calls and following up on customer leads. This position efficiently tracks orders, handles customer inquiries, closes sales, and processes orders. The role is essential to support organizational goals and model best practices, guided by our values of Excellence, Accountability, Transparency and Stewardship (EATS).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Calls on prospective customers and takes sales call information.
  • Creates orders for all product lines including citrus liners (CL),Shifting stock (LP and SP) budwood, seed, cuttings/rooted cuttings, ensuring they are accurately entered into the computer system.
  • Assists with processing large pot (LP) orders as necessary.
  • Makes cold calls to initiate new business.
  • Travels to other nurseries/sites to meet with prospective or existing clients, as necessary.
  • Updates communication spreadsheets, such as Nursery Planning, in a timely manner.
  • Monitors status of propagation relative to delivery date.
  • Provides feedback to the production department to ensure orders are properly filled in a timely manner and to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Troubleshoots with production department when orders are not completed on time.
  • Collaborates with CL department to ensure CL status reports are accurate and timely.
  • Initiates and completes shipping orders on Hot Sheet forms.
  • Sends orders with necessary shipping information in GreenPoint to Dispatch.
  • Organizes shipping carrier as necessary.
  • Visits nursery and evaluates Availability Reports to ensure accuracy of GreenPoint Status Reports.
  • Assigns Inventory to the Online Availability, as necessary.
  • Reviews contracted orders for accuracy.
  • Ensures the weekly sales report is produced accurately and on-time.
  • Assists with keeping the company website up to date with information and pricing.
  • Assists with sales projections on a quarterly basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related agriculture discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience with B2B and B2C
  • 1+ years of sales/marketing experience
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the Company’s insurance carrier
  • Proficient level computer skills with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Familiar with Famous, KipTraq, and GreenPoint Software, preferred
  • Bilingual verbal and written English/Spanish, preferred
