Join our team at Catalina Island Health and make a meaningful impact as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) on Catalina Island. This is an exciting opportunity to provide vital mental health services in a unique and picturesque setting.

As an LCSW you will provide clinical therapy services and crisis intervention to patients and families, participate in coordination of SWING and Skilled Nursing Facility admissions, discharges, and Utilization Review, teach in-service staff trainings on Social Services related topics, coordinate facility participation in telehealth programs, and assist in grant writing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Conducts crisis intervention with patients and/or families upon request of MD. Assists MD in assessment and transfer to an appropriate facility for patients who require an involuntary psychiatric hold. Performs child abuse and dependent adult abuse reporting functions as required.
  2. Works closely with medical providers, psychiatrists, other service providers, patients and/or families to provide appropriate biopsychosocial assessments and diagnoses, develop mental health treatment plans, and provides clinical social work treatment to patients who present with such issues as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, PTSD, substance-abuse issues, somatoform disorders, cognitive disorders, psychotic disorders or disorders usually first diagnosed in childhood. Maintains appropriate documentation of all clinical services provided in the patient electronic medical record and completes all required documentation for billing.
  3. Communicates with medical and ancillary staff, patients, and families to help coordinate SNF admits and discharges, supervises Social Worker’s interventions with in-patients, and participates in utilization review meetings; participates in SNF Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team meetings.
  4. Works with California Telehealth Network, the California Telehealth Resource Center, providers of professional specialty telehealth services, and CIMC physicians and staff to assess facility and community needs for telehealth services and to develop and implement programs to meet these needs.

  2. Follow all HIPAA regulations as outlined in the HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual.
  3. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  4. Excellent customer service skills for both inter and intra department.
  5. Other duties as assigned by the physicians and Supervisor.
  6. Other general administrative duties and projects as assigned.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  1. Communicate well both verbally and in writing with patients, medical staff, and community agency representatives; maintain effective working relationships.
  2. Develop appropriate therapeutic relationships with patients, develop and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients based on appropriate diagnoses and within ethical and legal guidelines.
  3. Effectively manage staff, programs, and departmental budget.
  4. Maintain record-keeping systems.
  5. Maintain confidential information.
  6. Clinical Social Work assessment and intervention skills, including crisis intervention skills for the ER.
  7. Ethical and legal principles guiding clinical therapy services.
  8. Basic principles of social services, human behavior, and social problems call for the use of public and private community resources.
  9. Medicare and Medi-Cal regulations for admissions, qualifying stays, and discharges for all levels of in-patient care provided by the facility.
  10. Community and financial resources available to patients and how to access these resources.
  11. Hospital procedures and record-keeping requirements.
  12. Contractual requirements for various public-health and grant-funded programs.
  13. Quality-assurance policies and procedures.


EDUCATION CERTIFICATION

Master’s degree in social work from an accredited university

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of experience working as a medical social worker.
  • Bilingual preferred

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Hold a valid license as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of California.
  2. BLS/CPR
