Position Purpose: Directly supervise clients while assisting psychiatric providers and nursing with client health history/assessment at psychiatric appointments. Provide continuity of program services in an ethical, legal, and moral manner within a safe and therapeutic environment, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED and one year of addiction treatment experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum CNA, CMA or EMT certification or greater
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training complete within three months
  • Skilled in behavioral management techniques
  • Ability to lead discussion and educational presentations
  • Valid Illinois driver's license

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Work hours prescribed by supervisor and be available to work additional hours when necessary. Overtime may be required.
  2. Conduct client health history/assessment and report to psychiatric provider prior to appointment.
  3. Transcribe orders.
  4. Assist with vital signs assessments.
  5. Provide follow up communication to clients with ongoing medical concerns.
  6. Monitor and document client’s response to medication and report any notable response immediately.
  7. Act as an advocate for all clients and report all physical/psychological concerns to the medical and clinical staff.
  8. Supervise and manage the behavior of the clients and provide appropriate behavioral interventions and consequences.
  9. Facilitate communication between clinical and medical staff.
  10. Provide client education in individual and group settings on topics including: medications, physical health, mental health and alcohol and substance abuse issues.
  11. Schedule client follow up medical appointments if necessary.
  12. Assist with preparing clients for medical consultation.
  13. Document pertinent information daily in the EHR based on observations and involvement with the clients as required.
  14. Serve as a member of the Office Support Services team and participate in all team meetings and activities.
  15. Attend all scheduled meetings of staff, such as nursing meetings, department meetings, or appropriate committee meetings as designated.
  16. Understand and comply with all of the principles established by the Rosecrance Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
  17. Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
  18. Serve as a role model for other staff, clients and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance.
  19. Assume any additional responsibilities as assigned.
