Propane Service Technician

What skills/attributes you must possess for consideration:

• Class A or B CDL with hazmat & tanker endorsements

• Current DOT Med Cert

• Clean driving record

• Must live within 30 miles of Centreville, MD for on call purposes

• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which include bending, climbing, lifting heavy equipment, hand digging and working in confined spaces

• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol tests

• Current gas fitters license or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire

• Minimum 1 year of experience with propane systems and appliances

• Ability to install and service propane systems and tanks in accordance with NFPA 54 and NFPA 58 code requirements

• Ability to work independently without supervision

• Strong written and verbal communication

• Working knowledge of tools and equipment including regulators, hand tools, power tools, tank dollies, trenching equipment and pressure gauges

• Strong mechanical aptitude with outstanding diagnostic skills

• Reliable transportation to and from work

• Ability to participate in after hours on call rotation

• Willing to work in adverse weather conditions

• Respectful of customers and fellow employees

• Strong problem solving skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Willingness to strictly adhere to company policies and procedures

What you’ll be doing:

• Position hours are M-F 8AM-4:30PM with overtime as needed

• Participate in after hours emergency on call rotation

• Provide professional and courteous service to our customers

• Handle customer inquiries, complaints and objections in a courteous manner

• Maintain a well stocked, clean and organized service vehicle

• Accurately complete daily task sheets with all required information

• Complete daily work orders with full descriptions including complaint, cause and correction as well as all required inspection information

• Create estimates and order parts as needed for customer repair jobs

• Install propane tanks, regulators, systems and appliances per code

• Fill in for delivery driver as needed

• Safely drive company vehicles in various weather conditions

• Operate company vehicles by company and DOT regulations including inspections

• Prepare and load/unload propane tanks and equipment for daily operations

• Perform every duty in a safe and professional manner

• Other duties as assigned

Wages and benefits:

• Pay range: $76,569.92 - $81,134.42 per year

• Pay rate based upon candidate meeting all above requirements, should a candidate with lesser experience be considered the pay rate will be adjusted accordingly
