Title:  Production Manager

 

Classification​: Exempt

 

Reports to:  Plant Manager

Date:  11/3/2023

Summary:

The Production Manager will oversee the company’s production processes to ensure that unit costs stay within the goals set by the company. This includes enhancing efficiencies where and whenever possible. Maintain the production schedule on all shifts. Follow and manage production shift employees and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as Production Supervisors, Production Line Leaders, Line Workers, etc for all production shifts.
  • Confer with other department managers and supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Plan, establish and enforce work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and efficiencies.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
  • Maintain operations data, such as time, production, cost records, and prepare reports of production results.
  • Drive continuous improvements with the use of related data and information.
  • Determine standards, budgets, production goals, and rates, based on company policies, equipment and labor availability, and workloads.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Recommend or execute personnel actions, such as hiring, evaluations, promotions and dismissals.
  • Calculate labor and equipment requirements and production specifications, using standard formulas.
  • Plan and develop new production processes when needed.

Technology

  • Proficient, Intermediate or Expert level, with Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Two years or more experience with Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering or business administration preferred.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse the production facility.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
