Sql Database Administrator - Part-time

Description:

Installation, configuration (including security) and upgrades of SQL Servers in Standalone, Clustered and Always On types of deployments.

Monitors the health of the organization’s SQL environment to ensure SLAs for data protection, data recovery, performance and availability are met.

Administration, maintenance and monitoring of the organization’s Snowflake cloud environment.

Ensures consistency in configurations across all environments (Development, Test, QA, UAT, Production, Disaster Recovery).

Deploys database related software application releases to all environments.

Ensures proper backup schedules are in place for all SQL databases in all environments.

Conducts routine data restores to verify data integrity and established SLAs for data protection can be met.

Performs routine maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and peak performance.

Performs routine audits to ensure established security and data loss prevention protocols are in effect and enforced.

Completes security vulnerability remediation for database environment.

Troubleshoot and correct issues with schedules, automated jobs, ETL data pipelines, SSRS reports, SQL Agent jobs, Powershell jobs, etc.

As part of the DBA team, responds as the primary contact for all support and troubleshooting requests for the database environment, including during non-business hours. Escalates requests as necessary.

Liases and coordinates with Server Administration and Development Teams to ensure proper project and task execution and manage delivery expectations.

Documents all standards, policies and procedures for the database environments.

Must be organized, driven and highly motivated with the ability to work independently.

Test and verify disaster recovery procedures to ensure RTO and RPO objectives can be met in the event of a disaster.Update documentation as required.

Provides technical knowledge to system designers and applications programmers to assist in their application development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mathematics or equivalent, and/or five years experience with database administration.

Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator, Snowflake SnowPro Core, Snowflake SnowPro Administrator Certifications or equivalent experience

Training in file structures and design, information retrieval techniques, file access methods and controls, and development and documentation of standards.

Requires a strong technical in banking software and business operations, and a successful track record with administrating software applications.

Strong working knowledge of data processing programming, systems design, problem analysis, and hardware.

Must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.

Communication skills including written, oral, and presentation skills are required.

Must be able to perform complex analysis and produce professional documentation and recommendations.

A strong bias for action is essential.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Proficient in SQL Server Management Studio.

Proficient in Database Modeling Tools (ERWIN, Visio)

Powershell scripting is a plus.
