Job Description
Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for the SRC, Goat or CDB packaging including supervising hourly employees in a manufacturing environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in packaging methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

- Assures employee routine and required training to meet safety, quality, and performance standards and expectations;
- Enforce employee safety by assuring procedures are followed and implement corrective action;
- Enforce quality, regulatory, and operational policies and procedures;
- Responsible in organizing and supervising the packaging schedules taking into account quality, quantity, costs and workforce;
- Packaging products according to product specifications, standards and current technical specifications;
- Controlling the correct working of packaging equipment and hygiene conformity;
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and communicate results regarding safety, quality, and performance. Implementing corrective actions as required;
- Support and mentor the Team Leads in enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), employee relations, scheduling, and operational objectives;
- Conduct and participate in continuous improvement daily routines and short and long-term projects;
- Maintain inspection-ready condition of facility and processes at all times assuring plant meets regulatory requirements;
- Utilize Labware, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), inventory management system, and maintenance historian system to complete investigation corrections and maintain awareness of issues;
- Conduct routine team meetings (daily/weekly/monthly as applicable), including including team member participation;
- Assure all lines are started on time, changeover and line idle time is reduced, and overtime and staffing is managed to achieve target labor costs;
- Monitor and reduce ingredient and rework usage, washouts, shutdown events, and product and chemical waste to improve packaging yield, COD impact, and material losses;
- Control expenditures within the department to maintain budget;
- Reports in daily and through e-mail to Plant Manager and assistant Plant Manager activities and issues;
- Communicate and direct maintenance technicians to assure they are focused where needed and as needed;
- Maintain documentation and performance logs of employees;
- Provide yearly reviews for employees;
- Maintain the timekeeping system and SAP;
- Drive projects and trials as necessary and maintain proper documentation;
- Ability to understand all job requirements and ability to trouble shoot is required.
- Propose CAPEX budget, assist engineering department in the determination of the most adequate equipment and follow up the implementation of all the equipment.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinet. Manager may also work in the test kitchen, pilot plant, and production floor.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment as well as on the production floor including being occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The employee is exposed to a humid and wet environment at times and could also be exposed to cold conditions in the coolers.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The role also routinely uses production and process equipment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Occasional off shift work hours will be required. Weekend and holiday work required as needed.
Travel
This position requires <10% travel. Occasionally travel is outside the local area and overnight.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- General manufacturing experience;
- Management/supervisory experience;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
- Five - eight years of general manufacturing experience;
- Three - five years of management/supervisory experience;
- SAP, OEE, and CIM experience;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English/bilingual).
