Job Description
Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will leverage Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering techniques to enhance production efficiencies and cost-effectiveness. Reporting to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the VP of Manufacturing, you will play a pivotal role in developing, evaluating, and improving processes through continuous improvement methodologies to elevate product quality and overall operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and identify opportunities for process improvement to optimize both quality and cost.
Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions for all production processes.
Investigate and determine root causes for internal and external complaints and quality rejections using 8D Problem-Solving methods.
Lead or assist in various engineering functions, including mechanical fixture design, process standardization, cost reduction, and quality control.
Lead or support the selection and implementation of automation equipment and processes to increase output and reduce costs.
Provide technical support for manufacturing plants, including machine troubleshooting and expertise in fabrication techniques such as cutting, punching, welding, and painting.
Analyze reports and collect data to recommend changes in methods, tooling, or equipment for increased productivity, quality improvement, or cost reduction.
Work closely with Plant Supervision at all levels to propose improvement projects, assess feasibility, and provide data for informed decision-making.
Collaborate with vendors to determine equipment specifications and facilitate equipment purchases to enhance production capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
Three years experience as a manufacturing or process engineer in an industrial manufacturing setting (preferred).
Hands-on experience and knowledge of metal cutting, forming, and welding processes (robotic experience is a plus).
Familiarity with AutoCAD or other design software.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing methods and concepts.
Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology; Green/Black belt certifications or training.
Demonstrated knowledge of equipment controls/PLC; automation/robotics experience is desired.
Ability to work with minimal direct guidance or direction from others.
