Trailer Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections, service, and repairs on dry van type trailers.
• Diagnoses failures and makes repairs on mechanical, electrical or other various systems on a trailer.
• May discuss the nature of the difficulty with the driver(s).
• Uses hydraulic jacks or hoist, to gain access to the underside of the unit and to aid in the removal or replacement of assemblies such as springs, axles, landing gear, and brakes, etc.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years Trailer Mechanic experience 
• ASE electrical or Air Brake System certification 
• Training and certification in electrical welding of steel and/or aluminum 
• Training in repair of hydraulic liftgates 
• Training in repair of refrigeration/heater units
