Job Description
Salary:

The AMT Accessory II is responsible for performing, assisting, advising on all MRO activities within the department.  


Maintenance, repair and overhaul activities include disassembly, cleaning, paint removal, inspection, creating bill of materials, rework/repair, reassembly, testing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting top level units, components, and related sub-assemblies.


Responsible for testing, troubleshooting, disassembly, inspection, disposition, rework and assembly complex electromechanical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic aircraft accessories ensuring compliance with all requirements relating to quality, safety, workmanship, functionality, performance, regulatory, internal and external requirements.


Read, understand, interpret, and comply with documented work instructions, component maintenance manual (CMM), service bulletins, technical orders, airworthiness directives, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, customer requirements and/or other approved technical data in hard copy and electronic formats as needed to accomplish required tasks.


Ability to use basic to complex mechanical and electronic measuring and test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth gages, scales, DMM. Ability to set up and use shop tools and equipment such as drills, grinders, common hand tools, special tools, drill press, hand shears, etc. as needed.


Identify, set up, configure and operate hydraulic, mechanical, electronic and electromechanical test equipment as required.  


Perform cleaning, abrasive blast, soldering, safety wire, wire crimp, marking, etching, painting operations as needed.


Comply with chemical safety data sheet (SDS) guidelines, general safety guidelines and procedures.


Completion of detailed and accurate maintenance reports and related documentation as required.


Essential Functions


  • Following all policies, procedures, and requirements
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times (6S)
  • Ensure positive control for all tools, tooling, fixtures and test equipment.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are calibrated and maintained as required
  • Comply with all FAR’s, Operations Specifications, RSMQCM, AS9110 and other internal and external regulatory requirements as required
  • Ensure all required technical data is available and complied with throughout the maintenance cycle
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are properly and completely documented as required
  • Transfer of WIP between work centers as needed
  • Identify and communicate risks to leadership
  • Review and ensure work order packages are complete and accurate throughout the maintenance cycle
  • Work across all functions to ensure priorities are communicated, WIP is completed per schedule, material needs are actioned
  • Identify material shortages and ensure appropriate action is taken
  • Communicate and take appropriate action for any work stoppage
  • Liaison with all support functions as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and information on company objectives, production strategies and support activities
  • Provide input for efficiency/continuous improvement
  • Maintain professional attitude and appearance
  • Develop the role as necessary
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education or Experience


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a Part 145 Repair Station performing maintenance, repair and overhaul of mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic accessories. or
  • Two (2) years technical Experience in related field.


Preferred Education or Experience


  • Maintain A & P Certification or eligibility to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate within 180 days of hire. 
  • Graduate from a technical school. 


Supervisory or Management Responsibility


  • This position has no direct supervisory or management responsibilities.


Primary Work Environment


  • Climate controlled primarily, occasionally not climate controlled;
  • Shop/Warehouse;
  • Occasional loud noises;
  • Occasional fumes and particles;
  • Frequent moving mechanical equipment and vibrations.

Expected Days and Hours


  • Monday through Friday
    • First Shift - 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.


Open and able to work occasional overtime, weekends, and willing to rotate shifts as required dependent on workload.


Travel


  • Travel is rarely expected for this position.


Required Personal Equipment/Tooling


  • Basic shop tools.
  • Protective steel-toed footwear. 


Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for job duties and responsibilities will be provided as necessary by Dow Aero, including protective eyewear, respirator, etc.
