The START program provides crisis response and prevention for individuals with developmental disabilities who present with complex behavioral and mental health needs. Providing community-based person-centered supports that enable an individual to remain in their home or community residence is our top priority. Services include Therapeutic Resource Centers, In Home Support, Crisis Response, Consultation, Education, and Training throughout 17 counties in Western New York.


What it's like to be a Clinical Coordinator at START

As a Clinical Coordinator at The START Program, you will be at the forefront of providing crucial services to individuals referred for START/CSIDD services. Your role will involve conducting systemic analysis using ecomaps, offering consultation to teams, and facilitating support meetings and crisis plan development. You will have the opportunity to engage directly with individuals in their home, day, and vocational settings, following the START model. By developing and implementing comprehensive service evaluations and crisis prevention plans, you will play a vital role in promoting the well-being of those in your caseload. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Clinical Education Team, present cases, and participate in meetings to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to care.

Does this sound like you?

To excel as a Clinical Coordinator, you must possess a master's degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling or other Human Services field and 2 years' experience working with individuals with IDD and behavioral health needs, exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with individuals and teams.

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and electronic record systems is essential to streamline documentation processes. The ability to collaborate within a team and independently is crucial, along with strong time management and multitasking skills to prioritize competing demands effectively. A solid understanding of working with individuals across a spectrum of diagnoses, learning, behavioral, and health challenges is key to providing tailored and compassionate care.

Your adaptability, empathy, and problem-solving abilities will be essential in navigating the complexities of the role and making a positive impact on the lives of those you serve.
