Medical Assistant

JOB SUMMARY

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a member of the multidisciplinary team who is directly involved in providing quality care to patients. CMA's are responsible for providing assistance to the nursing staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Takes client medical histories, performs and records vital signs and prepares clients for examination.
• Assists with completing Nursing portion of admission process.
• Completes patient assessments and notes.
• Documents and updates Multidisciplinary Records.
• Inputs client related information into medical record systems.
• Transfers clients to Emergency room when appropriate.
• Operates Pyxis machine based on appropriate protocol.
• Assists with laboratory services and facilities routine tests as directed by MD and/or Nurse Practioners.
• Maintains clean and properly stocked examination rooms and equipment.
• Assists with ordering client specific and stock medication and updating inventory.
• Writes, transcribes and reviews orders for non-controlled medications.
• Administers non-controlled medications.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Assistant Certification
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience acquired through a combination of education or practical work experience.
• Work experience in a mental health or substance abuse/recovery environment or with a 12 step program is preferred.
• CPR/First Aid Certification is required for this position. If not CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire, certification must be obtained within the state mandated time frame after first day of employment.
