Job Description
Whispering Pines Preschool is accepting applications for the position of Special Education Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for working with diverse groups of children and families and the ability to work with a team of professionals in a school setting. Join our dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of working on a school year calendar with a six-week program in the summer.
The Special Education Teacher reports to the Site Supervisors and to the Executive Director.
Job responsibilities include:
- Working with a classroom of 7 up to 18 students
- Preparing and implementing large and small group plans that are age-appropriate and meet the IEP goals for each child
- Differentiating instruction across a variety of developmental strengths, needs and diagnoses, as specified on the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
- Administering standardized tests and writing comprehensive reports that are individualized per student strengths and needs
- Presenting information at Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) meetings
- The ability to work collaboratively with classroom staff and a team of professionals
- Communicating clearly and concisely with families, classroom staff, professional colleagues and personnel from other agencies.
REQUIREMENTS: . New York State Certification in Special Education (Student with Disabilities Birth to 2nd Grade) is required. Graduates on an active Teacher Certification path will be considered. Experience working in a preschool setting is preferred.
