Machine Operator C

Primary Function: Set up and operate assigned machines to perform diversified operations and perform numerous tasks necessary with close supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities (List in order of importance) Reads and interprets blueprints and processes to plan setup and operation of machines. Uses required precision measuring tools and gages to assure dimensions are to print specifications. Performs related duties as assigned including, but not limited to, comply with all safety rules, regulations, and quality standards. Keeps work area clean and orderly. Qualifications

Perform numerous tasks necessary under close supervision to set up and operate any machine tool to perform diversified operations. Work from simple blueprints and job specifications to perform duties such as but not limited to exacting setups, selecting feeds and speeds, determining sequences of operations, installing proper tooling and attachments and adjusting stops and attachments. Duties require limited experience and some knowledge of machining technology, mathematics, tooling applications and machining characteristics of materials as well as adequate skills to machine all types of parts with or without fixtures, and with all types of tool settings. Face, turn, bore, drill, chuck, ream, groove, undercut, broach, keyway, hone, taper, grind, tap, cut threads, Lap, hob, shape, and all other machining operations to machine parts. Also require adequate skills to block, clamp, jack, mount, secure, orient, position, change, adjust, align, position between centers, layout, hold, place in steady rest, and shim. Operates two or more machines, time cycles permitting, and checks work to maintain quality. Multi machine tool operation may include such machine tools as gear cutters, automatic and semi-automatic machine tools, and other machine tools with machine-controlled work cycles. Load and unload machines. Perform related duties as assigned. Furnish and use own hand tools and precision tools. Comply with all safety rules and regulations. Keep work area clean and orderly.

Education Required

Minimum requirement of a high school diploma or general educational diploma (G.E.D).

Required experience

Must have knowledge, skills and ability to learn basic mechanic principles, and be able to expand into areas of more responsibility. Must be capable of being certified as a forklift driver.

The employee will constantly move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently move up to twenty (20) pounds, and occasionally move up to one hundred (100) pounds. At all times the employee should maximize the usage of mechanical aids at their disposal. The employee will perform the following activities: constantly be reaching, handling and feeling. Frequently, stooping, crouching, and grasping and occasionally be climbing, balancing, and kneeling.

The work environment is mostly in a production setting.
