THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the project inspector-in-charge, you will oversee a single, less complex highway or bridge project that involves tasks such as pavement restoration, minor base repair, intersections, and single-span structures. You will also act as a phase supervisor for more complex projects, working under the guidance of a higher-level project engineer. Your responsibilities will include supervising a team of inspectors, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and standards, and documenting and approving materials and workmanship. Additionally, you will play a key role in promoting quality improvement initiatives, implementing new strategies, and fostering a sense of ownership and pride among your team members. It is important to note that all employees are expected to contribute to the district's environmental practices and fulfill the objectives outlined in the Strategic Environmental Management Program (SEMP). Supporting your colleagues in meeting these objectives will be essential.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
  • Vendor-controlled position
  • Travel and overtime may be required according to operational needs.
  • The position will be reporting to various projects sites within Lebanon County, however limited travel to District 8-0 at 2140 Herr Street may be required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
