Responsibilities

  • Conduct Quality Inspections for single-family homes to ensure the home is 100% ready for the homeowner, marking any items that need attention and creating a punch list.
  • Review and prepare forms for submission as part of the reporting process
  • Prepare reports for clients and consult with builders about issues identified
  • Effectively communicate with management and the team on scheduling issues or field related concerns/ideas
  • Assist in Code Compliance Testing, Air Sealing, and Attic Tent Installation for residential new construction.


Job Description

The Quality Inspector is responsible for completing Fit n Finish inspections for new construction homes. Fit and Finish inspections are comprehensive inspections just prior to turnover. The inspection focuses on verification that each unit is complete – meaning all systems and components, finishes, and finish hardware is installed to industry standard and are aesthetically attractive (straight, flush, clean). We inspect all surfaces and documents components as meeting or exceeding performance standards. Our Fit and Finish inspections include taking photographs of each item to ensure that each system and component reflect quality standards. Any anomalies identified are reported to the superintendent, and the responsible trade contractor is expected to immediately resolve the issue upon completion of our inspection. Quality Inspectors should enjoy exposure to varying environments and constantly facing new challenges and learning opportunities.

When QI is slow, you will be responsible for assisting the energy team including field and office work related to building and energy efficiency goals. The Inspector may also be responsible for helping the energy team with installing attic tents, air sealing, completing energy inspections, IAQ, durability, day-lighting, renewable, and/or other improvements on a building. The Quality Inspector may be required to supervise other contractors and provide on-site expertise. They should enjoy exposure to varying environments and constantly facing new challenges and learning opportunities.

Residential new construction work is somewhat seasonal, as such there will be times of the year when working longer hours are expected and vacation time is less available, but there are times with shorter working hours and vacation time is readily available.
