About the role

The US Wellness team supports the development of new Wellness products for Consumer Healthcare brands for  markets in North America, in addition to supporting Wellness innovation in the OTC space. Analytical Science is a specialized discipline providing support for new product development, by developing, validating, and transferring state-of-the-art robust methods that enable the growth of the Consumer Health Business.

The Analytical Scientist primary job function is to execute technical strategies in analytical chemistry focused on the delivery of innovation in the Consumer Healthcare network. This role is familiar with aspects of HPLC, GC, ICP, HPTLC, MS and various detection technologies.  This role is recognized as having a good knowledge of Analytical chemistry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Will perform varied aspects, or a specialized aspects, of scientific disciplines such as separation sciences, organic chemistry, spectroscopy.

  • Conducts testing of dietary supplements products.

  • With minimal supervision, executes all technical aspects of analytical chemistry including the development, validation and transfer of methods for the testing/characterization of Wellness products and raw materials

  • Troubleshoots moderately difficult instrumentation issues and solving moderately complex analytical problems.

  • Recognizes atypical data including chromatography and intermediate results and performs investigation to determine root cause with minimal supervision from a senior scientist.

  • Interfaces with internal and external partners such as Design, Quality, Regulatory, Third-Party Testing Labs, and Commercial Manufacturing Organizations

  • Serves as the Analytical Development Lead on project teams and completes deliverables on time to meet project milestones with moderate oversight from a Senior Scientist.

  • Has a strong understanding of GMP requirements and CHR&D policies/procedures.

  • Ensures all applicable training is completed prior to conducting any scientific work.

  • Follows CHR&D documentation policies and practices when recording and documenting scientific work.

  • Performs peer reviews of scientific data and reports.  Works with colleague to resolve any identified issues in a timely manner.

  • Produces effective presentations with appropriately tailored messages (audiences could include external partners, commercial colleagues, management, and internal scientific community).

Why you?
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field of study

  • 4+ years of experience working in a GMP analytical lab.

  • Ability to work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision

  • Strong communicator, influencer and ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • Working in a matrix organization where many of the key players are senior

  • Ability to function as a key team member

  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ELN, and Empower

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate and/or PHD in Chemistry or related field of study

  • Experience in dietary supplement analysis.
