Die Making Job Summary:

As a die maker, you will make custom dies for debossing and foil stamping for the promotional industry. Debossing is the process of making a depression or indentation of the die into the product. Dies are made with magnesium metal. As a die maker you will expose, etch, wash, cut and grind dies to specifications.

Skills and experience required:

  • Must be a high school graduate or have a general education degree (GED)
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills verbal and written.
  • Eager to learn with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Basic reading ability
  • Computer experience
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve.
  • Ability to read ph. meter and micrometer.
  • Experience working with hand tools, band saw, grinders etc.
  • Ability to work around water for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand for eight hours or more.
  • Available for overtime and weekends
  • Ensure and deliver high-quality on-time products.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Monitor and maintain chemical ratios in etching baths.
  • Operate etching vats, distribute materials to individual machines.
  • balance wastewater by checking and maintaining water pH levels.
  • Monitor and maintain etch machinery and equipment.
  • Adhere to company standards and safety policies.
  • Make up and prepare etching solutions per SOP’s and WI’s
  • Meticulous attention to detail delivering accurate and complete record keeping.
  • Measures background thickness of die using a micrometer.
  • Recommend and maintain stock of department supplies and equipment.
  • Available to cross train in other departments as needed.
