Description

Core Hours

Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Purpose and Scope

Under limited supervision, performs maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of laboratory and manufacturing equipment. Prepares calibration reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems. Identifies, selects and completes set-up of specialized test equipment and instrument standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the calibration program to a level of compliance with GMP and ISO 9001.
  • Coordinate and/or execute calibration of measuring and test equipment used by functions within the operations group.
  • Maintain calibrations and ensure compliance at multiple Tolmar sites.
  • Specify and request purchase of certain measuring/testing equipment and related standards to the appropriate departments as needed.
  • Compile and analyze data, prepare calibration reports and make recommendations for changes and/or improvements within the calibration program.
  • Diagnose and perform all repairs without supervision.
  • Conduct and document investigations for out of calibration conditions on instruments and/or instrumentation using structured problem-solving techniques including identification of root-cause and effective preventative actions
  • Serve as backup for management activities temporarily as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 calibration system requirements.
  • Technical skills to operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate measuring & test equipment, i.e. balances, pressure/vacuum gages, thermometers, chart recorders, calipers, micrometers, RTDs, humidity sensors, and other hand-held measuring instruments.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software, including Word, Excel and calibration software.
  • Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice or accepted practice or acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to work independently on routine work with general instructions on new assignments.
  • Ability to create, monitor, amend and document calibration procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
  • Six or more years of related experience in a regulated industry, preferably manufacture of sterile drug products and/or medical devices.
  • Six or more years of related experience in calibration of temperature, humidity, pressure monitoring systems and laboratory is required.

Working Conditions

  • Laboratory and manufacturing environment.
  • On-call rotation required. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: $34.00 - $37.00 per hour (depending on experience)
