Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Division: Integrity Health Group

Location: Tonawanda Pediatrics

Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reports to: Nursing Management


JOB SUMMARY: The LPN will focus on providing high quality care to pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients in an office setting. LPN's play an important role in helping our patients pursue a healthy future, by providing clinical care and support to the providers, patients, and their families. LPN's perform nursing functions in accordance with Medical Health Associates of WNY policy and procedure and as directed by management and/or providers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Demonstrate the primary goal of customer satisfaction through positive interactions with patients, parents, providers, colleagues, and other members of the patient care team in a respectful, courteous, confidential, and caring manner.

2. Provide and assist with direct patient care including exam/procedure prep, screenings, initial assessments (for sick and well visits), patient exams, and clinical procedures.

3. Efficiently carries out administration and documentation of medications, immunizations and obtaining specimens as ordered by the providers.

4. Assist providers with clinical procedures (such as suturing, obtaining specimen for culture), and conduct catheterizations.

5. Administer nebulizer treatment. Obtain respiratory rate, pulse ox, pulmonary functions, and peak flow meter, when applicable.

6. Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations.

7. Assist with stocking supplies and cleaning/preparing rooms and equipment.

8. Schedule visits which are timely, appropriate, and sensitive to patient needs as clinically indicated and/or as directed by supervisors of the care team.

9. Gather patient information by telephone; Prepare and review patient records to meet specifications for triage messages, documentation, and organization.

10. Communicate with parents/patients regarding questions arising from visit, follow-up instructions or scheduling of additional testing as directed by supervisors of the care team.

11. Provide health education information and health teaching to parents/patients as directed by the provider.

12. Accurately communicate to pharmacies any necessary information needed per provider. This may include verbal prescription requests or prior authorizations.

13. Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement programs and activities within the practice setting.

14. Attend and participate in required in-service and mandatory meetings for continuous quality improvements.

15. Support change and new programs to improve patient care and staff morale.

16. Coordinate care with disease management as directed by providers.

17. Follow policy/procedure to perform, record and report laboratory tests while maintaining universal precautions and infection control precautions.

18. Protect the privacy and security of confidential and sensitive patient information.

19. Assist with training and serve as a resource for other staff.

20. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the nurse manager, or as directed by a provider.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· Graduate of an approved program for Licensed Practical Nurse.

· Current NYS Licensure and registration required.

· Current CPR Certification.

· One year experience preferred in: pediatric, clinical, or office nursing.

· Basic computer literacy.

· Proficiency with medical record technology.

· MEDENT experience/knowledge preferred.




Compensation details: 22.86-24.77 Hourly Wage
