Compensation

Certified Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor - $37.50 an hour

'This position is a safety sensitive position as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8 (K)(1)(i)(2) due to providing direct child care. Therefore, those applicants testing positive for marijuana will not be hired even when in possession of a valid medical marijuana license.'

 Basic Purpose

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving counseling and other services for individuals receiving treatment for problems related to alcohol/drug abuse. ** Position is full time OJA employee with benefits as an OMMA grant CADC with funding rollover to 2026.  After completion of grant requirements position may remain with OJA if funding is available.**  

 Typical Functions

• Maintains clinical record documentation and services in compliance with accreditation standards.

• Conducts professional screenings, assessments, and intake referrals with clients including, but not limited to, the diagnosed client and family.

• Provides effective individual, group and family case management in the area of addiction services, psychological services and educational groups with substance abuse clients and family.

• Utilize clinical supervisor to maintain positive work relations as a part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Duty station will be Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center.  Duties will be at the facility and in the community working with Oklahoma youth and families in need of services.
 

 Level Descriptor

This is the career level position incumbents perform all essential functions at the full performance level and may provide training or assistance to others in completing various requirements related to drug/alcohol counseling and other services.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the dynamics of alcohol/drug related problems and their impact upon patients and their families; of the social factors involved in substance abuse; of the principles and techniques of rehabilitation counseling and their application to individuals possessing chemical dependencies; of community resources available to persons with alcohol/drug related problems; of the physiological and psychological effects of chemical dependency; and of general social, economic and health problems. Ability is required to interview and counsel; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to interact with chemically dependent persons; to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; to speak before large groups; and to treat the chemically dependent using group and individual therapy and to evaluate new treatment methods.

 Education and Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of the completion of two courses in psychology, social work, chemical dependency or substance abuse at the college level and experience in counseling alcohol/drug abuse patients or clients in a recognized alcohol/drug treatment, rehabilitation or counseling program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of two additional college level courses in psychology, social work, chemical dependency or substance abuse for a maximum of one year of qualifying experience.

 Special Requirements

Positions shall have a current certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)

Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.

A trial period will be required.

Applicants must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position, possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at time of appointment and be willing to work 2 evenings a week.
