An employee in this class performs work to support the Food and Beverage operations of Harrahs Cherokee Center Asheville. Work involves preparing and providing mixed liquor drinks, beer and wine to the Harrahs Cherokee Center Asheville patrons. Work also involves proper and responsible handling and serving of alcoholic beverages in accordance with the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement regulations. Employee will complete an alcohol server and seller training program (TIPS) to understand and follow all Harrahs Cherokee Center Asheville and Alcohol Law Enforcement rules and regulations.

Employee must maintain a clean, sanitized and safe work environment for Harrahs Cherokee Center Asheville patrons and other staff members on team. Employee must exercise independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in completing assignments. Employee must also exercise tact decision making skills and also establish keen problem solving skills. Employee will be in frequent contact with the general public and City officials. Work is performed under general supervision of the Concession Stand Supervisor or Bar Manager, and is evaluated through observation, conferences, review of work performed, and public approval.

* Cleans and prepares the bar area location for events.

* Prepares alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to patrons for consumption.

* Follow drink recipes in accordance with Harrahs Cherokee Center Asheville policies.

* Assist team members in checking identification of patrons to purchase alcohol.

* Answers customers' questions about food and beverages served.

* Assists in inventory count of food, beverages and supplies on hand.

* Performs a variety of customer-service duties.

* Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, food and beverages.

* Work with team members to assist in cleaning location upon completion of events.

* Assist Stand Manager, Bar Manager or Management in other related duties.

Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent and prior bartending or food-service experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience required to perform the essential position functions. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Working Conditions

* Ability to responsibly prepare and serve patrons in accordance with Harrahs Cherokee Center Asheville and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement regulations

* Knowledgeable about the physical signs of impairment

* Knowledgeable about properly checking identification of patrons

* General knowledge of the methods of handling food and beverage products for concessions sales.

* Ability to maintain high standards of personal cleanliness and cleanliness of facilities and meet required sanitation procedures outlined by the NC Health Department

* Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor for extended periods of time if needed

* General knowledge of various liquor brands, beer and wine being served to patrons

* Ability to maintain complete and accurate records

* Responsibly facilitate alcohol sales to customers after undergoing TIPS training program and the ability to adhere to all venue and NC Alcohol Law Enforcement rules and regulations
