This position will be responsible for overseeing shift personnel and production flow, provide leadership for their work group and must have the highest working knowledge of the equipment, policies, and procedures.  

 

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Lead by example, with a positive outlook, through practice and work habit, a desire to follow all policies and procedures in the plant environment to develop and maintain a safe, efficient, high quality, low waste workplace and maximize the development of the personnel they lead.  
  • Demonstrate the ability to accomplish tasks through thoughtful delegation to others in the work group.  
  • Train, coach and enforce all company safety policies.  
  • Train personnel to operate, adjust, repair, and maintain the machinery, performing the most complex work with the assistance of maintenance personnel.  
  • Perform quality inspections periodically to ensure manufactured product meets standards.  
  • Complete all required checklists and paperwork for each shift.  
  • Perform operator duties as required.  
  • Provide feedback to the Plant Manager or Production Manager on the performance of the department and assist in performance reviews of the personnel they lead.  
  • Maintain attendance records in order to reconcile payroll information.  
  • Set print and gauge printers.  
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays and holidays.  
  • Ensure incoming shift comes into a clean work environment with equipment in good working order, even if this requires you to stay over past the end of your shift.  
  • Experience on Weber, B&R, Davis or Potdevin bag machines preferred, but not required.  
  • High school diploma or GED is required, as well as two years previous experience as a team leader or supervisor.  
  • Very high mechanical aptitude is required and must have the ability to read a ruler to 1/32”.  
  • Required to obtain a set of tools and toolbox to perform job requirements.  
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.  
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written) with staff, and internal and external clients.  
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
