JOB SUMMARY

 In collaboration with Administration, Psychiatrists and direct care staff, provides utilization reviews with insurance providers for patients admitted to psychiatric inpatient services at South Campus.

Position Summary:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Performs daily admission reviews to determine medical necessity and appropriate level of care using
Interqual criteria.
• Collaborates with physicians to ensure orders are appropriate for the level of care indicated.
• Communicates any issues delaying discharge or authorization of stay to Director Actively seeks input from
staff and Social Worker on discharge planning or utilization issues and patient needs.
• Facilitates patient care conferences and ensures patient assignment boards are updated.
• Obtains and checks pertinent discharge list every morning and ensures discharge level of care is
documented on all assigned patients.
Assist with ensuring all Medicare recipients receive an Admission and Discharge Medicare Rights letter.


Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education


Associates degree in Nursing preferred Bachelors degree preferred

Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina

Two years hospital based clinical experience.

Experience in Case Management, Utilization Review and/or discharge planning, knowledge of Interqual and
other payer criteria preferred.

Must have excellent communication skills, demonstrate self-direction, and have the ability to work well in a
team environment.
