Position Responsibilities: * Adheres to and complies with all regulatory standards globally to profession and specific to unit * Understands all new physician orders must be implemented within two hours of initiation for routine and within 30 minutes or less for stat * Understands and is able to prepare patient for invasive and / or non invasive medical procedures ensuring universal protocol compliance * Understands and is able to administer medication per physicians orders adhering to the hospital approved patient identifiers, following the 5 rights of patient medication administration * Utilizes chain of command to communicate changes in patient condition and initiate timely interventions to prevent negative patient outcomes * Maintains current licensure and annual competencies as specific to assignment, keeping written evidence on file at all times * Understands the procedures to ensure continuity of patient profile/kardex and/or procedure preference cards or other unit specific tools, in a timely manner * Assures continuity of patient care assessment and reassessment as per policy * Ensures and understands the safety aspect of clinical alarms * Follows the National Patient Safety goals as requiredFollows Patient Safety goals as established by the department; supports effective responses to adverse and sentinel events; provides an on-going proactive approach to reduce risk; integrates patient safety as a priority into new and existing processes * Is available to participate as a member of either Team A or Team B of the Hurricane Activation Plan, as assigned * Reports incidents to supervisor and Risk Management department within required timeframe in accordance with medical center policy * Follows the completion of incident reporting policy * Complies with current Hospital security and safety polices * Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family * Assessment of chief complaint and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival to unit * Obtains and documents a complete nursing admission assessment, including physiological and psychological factors to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care within eight hours of admission * Performs and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each shift * Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention * Assesses patient education needs on admission and daily * Assesses psychosocial needs specific to patient's age, growth, and development Qualifications: * Florida Registered Nurse License * Graduated from an Accredited Nursing School * BLS/ACLS required * Hospital Experience Required Benefits We believe in the physical and mental well-being of our employees and are committed to offering comprehensive benefits that fit their personal needs.
