Responsibilities/Competencies
Acts as a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer on major projects performing tasks including, but not limited:
- Specifying and sizing equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, process towers, aerial coolers, pumps, fired heaters, filters, compressors, and storage tanks.
- Creating and reviewing pipe specifications, including completing ASME B31.3, B31.4, and B31.8 code calcs.
- Completing pipe stress analysis. Familiarity with CAESAR II software is preferred.
- Performs equipment, pipe, and other material commercial and technical evaluation.
- Development and review of P&IDs. 3D Modeling support and review. Development and QA/QC of pipe, valve, and fittings bill of materials (BOM). Review and QA/QC for piping isometric drawings.
- Line Sizing, pressure drop analysis, and hydraulic studies. Line list development and management.
- Active participation in plant process hazard analysis (PHA).
- Review vendor equipment drawings and datasheets for confirmation of adequate sizing and adherence to project specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage several competing priorities and projects.
- Ability to communicate with other discipline engineers and designers and actively participate in cross discipline project solving.
- Ability to lead internal and client-related meetings for detailed walkthroughs and explanation of design documents (P&IDs, equipment sizing, Plot Plan, PHA, etc).
- Tracking of job-specific project budgets to ensure cost control is maintained on projects.
Specific experience in the detailed design, installation, and integration of natural gas processing and transmission facilities, including but not limited to:
- Cryogenic NGL recovery plants (GSP, RSV, etc).
- Dew point control plants (MRU, JT, refrigerated-JT).
- Renewable Natural Gas Plants/Landfill Gas Plants.
- Condensate stabilization.
- NGL and/or condensate fractionation.
- Amine treating and regeneration (gas and liquid).
- Glycol and molecular sieve dehydration and regeneration.
- Natural gas compression.
- Gas storage facilities.
- Tank batteries.
- Slug catchers and gas/liquid separation.
- Balance of Plant.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred. Minimum of 3-7 years of professional experience in midstream oil and gas design and/or operations.
- Applicants must be licensed Professional Engineers or be actively working toward licensure.
- Able to manage multiple simultaneous projects, while acting as a lead mechanical engineer.
- A professional and ethical leader willing to mentor and train young engineers.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
- Travel is occasionally required.
