Position Summary:

 

Provide accounting and administrative support by preparing, recording, reconciling, and maintaining accounting records and correspondence. Multiple openings available - responsibilities and compensation dependent upon experience.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Accurately record transactions in accounting system and supporting ledgers.
  2. Prepare and maintain accounting documents and correspondence.
  3. Review and post daily deposit transactions. Identify and report any discrepancies.
  4. Compile basic information and data for the preparation and development of reports.
  5. Review, code, copy and deliver checks to remittance processor or cashier.
  6. Maintain certificates of insurance for all contractors.
  7. Scan and maintain accounting documents in storage database.
  8. Perform other general administrative tasks as needed.
  9. Sort and distribute department mail.
  10. Responsible for compliance with the Cooperative's safety rules, policies and procedures.
  11. In addition to these responsibilities, may be assigned by the Chief Financial Officer to perform other duties from time to time.

 

Education and Experience:

 

High school diploma or equivalency is required. In addition, one year of general office experience is preferred for entry-level role. Completion of college-level accounting courses with one or more years of general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll experience preferred for mid-level and above.

 

Job Knowledge:

 

Knowledge of bookkeeping and/or general accounting principles and practices, and prior utility experience preferred.

 

Abilities and Skills:

 

  1. Must possess basic computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  2. Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral forms with the general public, vendors, and co-workers.
  3. Must be organized and exercise attention to detail.
  4. Must possess basic math skills.
  5. Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds, as necessary without external assistance of personnel or mechanical aids.
  6. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record.


Working Environment:

 

This position requires working in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal physical exertion. Occasionally some duties may be performed outside with exposure to weather extremes. Physical dexterity and coordination are required for the operation of personal computers, tablets, and other typical office equipment.
