Role and Responsibilities

You oversee the cost-efficient maintenance of various facilities. You will also oversee a team and vendors for remodeling, additions, maintenance services and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, janitorial services, general grounds, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, security, electrical systems, and other departments. Your tasks will include to:

  • Coordinate with corporate and supervisors to manage construction or remodeling projects; plan permits, inspect work based on blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Manage maintenance tools, equipment, supplies, budgets, time, and production records as well as working conditions for maximum efficiency.
  • Manage production schedules and work procedures to ensure projects meet deadlines.
  • Monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS); review, record, analyze and optimize energy usage and costs.
  • Interpret company policies for workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Coach workers in achieving work goals.
  • Perform maintenance work (temporarily or in an emergency).
  • Supervise inmates/detainees receiving maintenance training.

Qualifications

Competencies Required

Proven leadership skills, flexibility, the ability to quickly understand intricate documents and communicate effectively with various groups (in writing or verbally), basic math skills, as well as computer savvy (including BAS) are among the key requirements. Apply if you meet the following criteria:

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years in construction, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry or related work. Journeyman's certification in one or more trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry. Certification as a building maintenance supervisor or Facility Manager from the Building Operating Management Association (BOMA) or Executive Operating Engineer through American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate estimates and amounts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to use computers and the software products typically used by the business unit. Experience using BAS computer software.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently: lift or carry up to 20 lbs.; push or pull up to 40 lbs.; bend or stoop; reach above shoulder level; drive automatic equipment vehicles; walk, stand, sit.
  • Occasionally: lift or carry up to 60 lbs. or more; push or pull up to 60 lbs. or more; work with machinery, climb, work in extreme temperatures.
