Position: Assistant Director, Student Financial Services

Department: Student Financial Services

Campus: Fort Wayne/ North Manchester

Target Hire Date: May 2024

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Student Financial Services, the Assistant Director helps to plan and implement student financial services operations and compliance.

Essential job functions:

Responsibilities of the Assistant Director, Student Financial Services, include but are not limited to the following:

  • Educates and counsels students and parents on financial aid and payment strategies.
  • Evaluates students’ financial need and assembles student financial packages.
  • Processes and reconciles government and state financial aid programs ensuring compliance with applicable administrative regulations.
  • Manages loan programs including request forms, applications, certifications, master promissory notes, entrance and exit student counseling.
  • Manage updates/changes to regulatory issues and compare to Manchester University policy to remain in compliance for financial aid awarding/disbursing.
  • Serves as primary contact for all outside scholarship and resource funding organizations.
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of financial aid experience.
  • Customer Service focus with excellent written, oral, technical, and interpersonal skills with both students and parents.
  • Operational knowledge of Ellucian/Colleague student information system or similar financial aid software.
  • Ability to participate as a contributor in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership through education and training.
  • Must be reliable, maintain confidentiality and able to manage interruptions.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Micro-Soft Office Suite, web-based programs, email, and adding machines.

Work schedule: This is a full-time, exempt position. Forty (40) hours per week (8:00 am-5:00 pm) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the University, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be required occasionally.
