A Day in the Life as a Behavior Intervention Specialist

In this rewarding role, you will perform behavioral assessments and provide training to staff in managing difficult behaviors. You will be part of the Response to Intervention Team, and provide consultation, implement plans and monitor progress of students. You will have the opportunity to see plans you develop help students, staff and families.

Position Requirements

Master's degree from a program in clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology or applied psychology as it relates to human development and educational interventions and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development or BCBA national board certification and Master's degree in behavioral analysis or a field closely related to school psychology that is approved by NYSED or a NYS license in mental health counseling.

At least five years of experience working directly with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation and monitoring of behavior intervention plans and/or providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.

Must possess a current, New York State Driver's License.
