Sawmill Laborer, Up to $20/hr – 1st Shift - Walkerville

Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in machine building
- Reading of caliper, micrometer, and tape measure required
- Basic English and math skills required
- Electrical Knowledge and ability to read that information from blueprints
Preferred Skills:
- Load and unload lumber and timber from forklifts, and conveyors
- Conduct inspection of boards to identify defects and indicate to your supervisor
- Sort and arrange timber according to sizes and wood type to allow for easy identification
- Maintain accurate record of job operations as well as up-to-date inventory
- Ensure proper disposal of waste materials on completion of job operations
- Maintain machines in clean and good working order
- Cross-train in other departments and multiple machines
- Participate, with a positive attitude and good learning opportunity approach
This sawmill is located northeast of Hart in Oceana County. It is a traditional grade mill that works with local loggers from throughout the area to provide some of the finest grade lumber from the mixed hardwoods of Northern Michigan. While the two sawmills account for only a portion of our raw material needs, they add some stability to our supply base.
