WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS  

This is an amazing opportunity to influence and be a part of the Bay City Plant startup team at our new state-of-the-art MMA production facility! 

The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring the raw materials for daily production schedules are available within in-house inventory and for coordinating the movement of finished goods from the site by various methods of transportation to ensure customer demand is met. This may include ensuring accurate allocations of products, reconciling daily production orders, customer service, reporting, routing of truck, rail and barge services and active communications. This position is responsible for creating and modifying the production jobs, monitoring inventory levels, providing production status updates to management, facilitating the timely delivery of products to customers, and monitoring the production process to ensure that production orders are completed on time and within budget. 

 WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Collaborate with LiMA Operations, Maintenance and Engineering when determining production plans or schedules, including normal & routine equipment outages.  

  • Determine key raw material supply.  Report and advise relevant personnel on issues that may impact or disrupt production scheduling.  

  • Compile, maintain and update daily, weekly, and monthly raw material reports as needed. 

  • In conjunction with Roehm Bay City Operations, and third-party logistics actively manage the related actions to ensure inbound raw material direct, truck, rail and barge deliveries and empty outbound truck, rail and barge movements are effectively transported between sites.  

  • Within SAP, complete the goods receipts posting along with any corresponding inventory transaction.  

  • In conjunction with Production Operations, and or Third-party logistics coordinate MMA truck, rail and barge loading and shipping plan. Promote adequate shipment fleet rotation and off storage when needed. Address issues related to repairs to the corresponding site Maintenance and mobile repair crews.  

  • In conjunction with Roehm Bay City Operations, evaluate non-key raw material requirements to support production plans. Work with procurement and/or make releases as required. Coordinate inbound delivery plans for raw materials.  

  • In conjunction with site production, compile relevant production information and publish via email “Roehm Bay City Daily Update/Spreadsheet” daily. In cooperation with Roehm Bay City Operations keep current tank/order projections.  Using the appropriate SAP functions post all production transactions as required. 

  • Compile, maintain and update daily, weekly, and monthly reports as needed. 

  • Knowledgeable with regards to planning, and execution of outbound transportation from Roehm Bay City to customers, and other Roehm locations.   

  • Support deployment and operating issues for transport equipment pools for rail and truck. 

  • Knows who to contact to resolve problems or address procedural issues during non-core hours. 

  • Coordinate shipment and delivery to ensure meeting the stated service requirements within Roehm standards for cost optimization and Responsible Care. Provide routine and ongoing feedback regarding carrier performance. 

  • Aid in the resolution of logistics and quality related complaints received [QN process] for site outbound shipments. Review and evaluate investigation results and proposed corrective actions to ensure that problem resolution is appropriate and that corrective actions will result in elimination, where feasible, of a future similar complaint.   Reject inadequate investigations and work with relevant parties to generate acceptable resolution. Coordinate with all internal departments to implement corrective actions. 

  • Complete goods receipts for delivered raw materials as required. 

  • Participate in quality teams and groups as needed. 

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment that meets or exceeds Roehm Standards. 

  • Develop real-time modeling tools to support supply chain operations and optimization. 

  • Other duties as assigned or required. 

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING   

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business management, engineering, or related field. Relevant experience in a Production Planning role in the petrochemical industry will be considered in lieu of a degree.  

  • APICS certification a plus. 

  • 3 - 7 years of experience of production/logistics planning and forecasting within the chemical manufacturing industry.  

  • Knowledge of plant level supply chain activities.  

  • Working Knowledge related areas such as rail transport, bulk transport, bulk terminal, or carrier operations preferred.  

  • Working Knowledge of domestic transportation regulations, carrier operations, load optimization and material handling preferred. 

  • Familiar with SAP, demand management, sales forecasting, inventory replenishment, and supply chain/asset optimization software tools. 

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and be able to develop accurate, detailed analyses under time pressure. Advanced Excel skills are essential in this position. 

  • Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and related software. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects. 

  • Basic knowledge of high-level plant operations and the ability to translate plant operational issues into a quantitative impact on supply chain. 

  • Previous experience in a product management role is a plus.
