Job Description

Title: Housekeeping / Room Attendant
Department: Hotel Housekeeping
Purpose: To clean hotel guest rooms according to quality and performance standards

Duties:

1. Clean and reset hotel guest rooms according to established standards.

2. Organize and stock cleaning cart and organize linen closets on floors assigned.

3. Complete any assigned paperwork in an accurate, timely manner.

4. Perform other duties as assigned (i.e., cleaning spills, executing special guest requests, etc.).

5. Assist other departmental staff in maintaining clean and organized work and public areas.

Requirements:

1. Housekeeping / Hotel Room Attendant experience desired, but not required.

2. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.

3. Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.

4. Must demonstrate good communication skills, both verbal and written.

5. Must possess basic computational ability.

6. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable sanitation standards.

7. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

8. Must maintain a neat and clean physical appearance.

Physical Demands:

1. Most work tasks are indoors. Temperature is moderate; controlled by hotel environmental systems.

2. Must be able to work with detergents and chemical compounds required for cleaning and sanitation.

3. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.

4. Must be able to lift as much as 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.

5. Must be able to push/pull carts/equipment weighing up to 250 pounds on a regular, continuing basis.

6. Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.

7. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.

8. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different floors of the hotel on a timely basis.

9. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity.

10. Talking and hearing occur continuously in communicating with guests and other employees.

11. Vision occurs continuously with the most common functions being near vision and depth perception.

12. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Dependability: Employees are expected to be on time and demonstrate regular attendance.

Job Performance: Employees are expected to complete duties quickly, efficiently, and safely.

Conduct: Employees are expected to follow worksite rules and regulations. Employees who violate worksite rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
