Summary

Responsible for all plant operations, i.e. safety, quality, HR, sales, production and growth. Responsible for the profitability/loss by means of production and inventory control and efficient use of employees and machines utilization.

What you'll do

  • Manage plant and departmental operations (i.e. safety, quality, HR, sales, production).
  • Responsible for overall financial expectations and plant compliance.
  • Oversee securing customer contracts and new business opportunities.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Responsible for developing, executing and maintaining a strategic plan for the facility.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the HR, Accounting, Purchasing and Shop Operations Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manages 1-10 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 1-100 employees in the Accounting, Human Resources, Operations/Production, Sales & Service, Administration, Engineering, Safety & Quality and Procurement.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises 1-10 non-supervisory employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university.
  • Working knowledge of the steel industry.
  • Ten (10) years’ relevant work experience in a manufacturing/machine shop environment preferred.
  • 5+ years of management experience – mid-level operations management and above.
  • Sales background preferred.
  • Machining understanding is preferred.
  • Previous experience adhering to corporate policies and compliance.
  • Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest from remote site locations and ability to communicate and exercise very positive people skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Highest ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportion to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Data entry, GSS or equivalent ERP system, spreadsheet and word processing software, project management software.
