Your New Challenge in Green Chemistry?

Are you looking for an entrepreneurial organization where you can make a significant impact?  We need a synthetic chemist with a track record of research and development success to help us formulate green performance additives for polyurethane foams and polyisocyanurate foams.

Are you an expert in synthetic polymer or synthetic organic chemistry?  Do you have experience in green chemistry?  Do you have a high-energy level and the motivation to learn new things, make good chemistry happen and deliver results in the real world?

We are the world’s oldest bootstrap startup, with well over 30 years of research and dozens of patents, and we need a chemist to further the development and formulations of polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams and non-cellular elastomers.  We need innovative solutions that move the performance and financial needle of our high-performance additives.  We are financially stable and supported by the resources of a medium sized multinational parent company.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Independent chemistry research on projects as required to support the business objectives of the company.

2.      Creation and evaluation of custom additives and formulations of polyurethane foams and non-cellular elastomers.

3.      Provide technical support to other parts of the organization, especially marketing.

4.      Lead the development and validation of analytical methods for characterization of new materials.

5.      Develop work instructions for the commercial synthesis of new materials.

6.      Write and execute validation protocols for pilot and production batches.

7.      Lead the design of experiments.

 

Our Team

Our Company is located in Pittsburg, KS.  You will collaborate with or lead the activities of research support staff, key production, plus external resources.  You will work as a member of a team while operating with considerable independence.

 

You Should Bring

1.      An Ph.D. in synthetic chemistry.

2.      A history of great technical research as evidenced by patents and publications.

3.      Experience researching and designing green chemistry products from organic sources.

4.      A fundamental understanding and knowledge of polyurethanes and/or polyisocyanurate foams and/or non-cellular elastomers.

5.      Dedication to consistently conduct yourself in a manner consistent with our values.

 

We Need Your Experience to Include:

1.      Synthetic organic or synthetic polymer chemistry.

2.      A Post-doc or Chemical industry experience, preferably in polyurethane chemistry and their formulations.

3.      Working knowledge of analytical chemistry.

4.      Good Manufacturing practices.

 

You Should Know How to:

1.      Produce results.  This is a bench chemistry position.

2.      Learn to fill gaps in your experience.

3.      Understand polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams and/or non-cellular elastomers.

4.      Interpret Statistical Methods and associated statistical analysis software.

5.      Predict the effect of a process or formulation change on downstream steps or customer needs.

6.      Innovate and implement change.

7.      Prioritize high-value tasks and focus when results are significant to the team’s success.

8.      Communicate, present, and persuade upper management, as well as author annual reports, patents, and publications.

9.      Organize and direct your own research.
