We are looking for a Human Resource Manager who will own all aspects of Human Resources at the ScottsMiracle-Gro Fort Madison, Iowa location. This facility is home to approximately 350 associates, and is the second largest operation in the entire network. . Although reporting directly to the Director of HR for Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, this role will be an integral member of the onsite leadership team in Fort Madison, and will partner directly with them to identify and implement strategic solutions for business problems.

This position requires an intellectually curious leader, with high emotional intelligence and a strong desire to take ownership of the onsite talent strategy, while maintaining continuity with standard practices and processes, and compliance with applicable labor law..

In this role you will:
  • Drive positive associate relations through effective employee relations management, proactive activities such as round table discussions and leading the execution and follow-up to the annual associate engagement survey process.
  • Drive Talent Growth initiatives throughout the organization including personalized development of high potentials and emerging leaders. This includes the facilitation of talent planning, succession readiness and the utilization of performance management tools to continually develop leaders and encourage a culture of continuous feedback.
  • Serve as an advisor to the leadership team by providing insight, coaching and HR related solutions to functional and business leaders in the effective management and development of their people and their organizations.
  • Partner with HR specialty groups to ensure strategic and tactical HR programs are executed flawlessly.
  • Lead the annual seasonal staffing process to ensure production needs are met in a reliable, cost-effective manner.
  • Drive a positive culture that creates an inspiring associate experience
  • Lead the talent planning and review process to include a thorough assessment of talent, gap analysis, action planning, and execution to improve succession readiness and develop the future generation of leaders.
  • Facilitate and integrate talent planning and acquisition to identify world-class talent for current and future hiring needs.
  • Partner with Human Resources centers of excellence to provide information and guidance on issues that affect Fort Madison.
  • Lead Human Resources related projects within assigned business units and across SMG.
  • As a member of the plant leadership team, provide input and guidance on the operations of the plant, a positive impact on the community, and overall leadership for associates in the Fort Madison facility.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Be known for high judgment and proven ability to diagnose issues, drawing on both professional experience and strategic thinking skills, and drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to develop and integrate HR and business strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; high-quality document preparation and presentation skills.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Human Resources or in a related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated a high level of ownership and accountability.
  • Proven, creative problem solver with both breadth and depth of experience across the HR function.
  • Is energized by high change environments and is comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Intellectually curious with an innate desire to learn how things work.
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $108,300.00 - $127,400.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
