Hartford HealthCare, the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, has a new growth opportunity for a Family Birthing Center Nurse Practitioner to join our cohesive team to provide value-based care to patients in outpatient settings in Backus Hospital.

Some highlights of this opportunity include:

• Nurse Practitioners (APRN) provide direct lactation support and education to patients and staff to ensure that a high quality, cost effective service is delivered.
• Advanced Practitioners are responsible for providing comprehensive, advanced, and specialized health services across the continuum of the patient’s lactation experience.
• This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with the Maternity Women's health services.
• These responsibilities include, but are not limited to patient and staff education, consultation and partnerships with health care resources and others within our organization, network and community. 
• Assists in the establishment of lactation through education and direct patient care in the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods
• Assesses for breastfeeding difficulties. Works with providers to establish an individual plan of action for patients, using hospital polices and protocols top ensure consistency of information.

Qualifications

 

• Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut.
• International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwifery Program
• 1-3 years of experience in Maternal Child Heath or Family Practice
