Lead Baker - Pastry

The Radical in Asheville, NC, is looking for an adept Lead Baker to join our kitchen team. Our goal is to provide our customers with the freshest, handcrafted pastries, breads, and desserts made with great attention to quality. As Lead Baker, you will have the chance to guide and oversee the crafting, baking, and final presentation of our culinary specialties, as well as monitor stocking and ordering materials. $20 - $22 hourly

• Monitor the quality of baked goods produced and adjust recipes as needed
• Resolve any baking process issues promptly
• Supervise a team of bakers, verifying that all tasks are completed on time and to an excellent standard
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including food safety standards
• Implement processes to optimize production and reduce waste

• At least 5 years of experience working as a baker in a commercial kitchen
• Ability to develop, execute, and train staff as to recipes and instructions
• Knowledge of baking best practices and techniques
• Understanding of sanitation, food safety, and health regulation
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in measuring and scaling ingredients
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Flexibility to work in shifts and weekends
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

The Radical is opened in the River Arts District, and we're looking to add to our great team of hospitality professionals! Along with our hotel, we have bars, restaurants, and a cafe. An elevated wood fire grill restaurant Golden Hour, the sunset view The Roof bar with DJs and events, and Afterglow serving coffee and pastries during the day and cocktails and light bites into the night.

The Radical is a new concept in an old factory building, aiming to breathe new life into the area and be part of a balance between new development and historic roots.
